STUMPED.

How We Check

A puzzle is only as good as the facts under it.

Every Stumped game rests on a claim about something that really happened — a record, a stat line, a projection. If that claim is wrong, the puzzle is broken, however clean it looks. So before anything ships we would rather catch a bad fact loudly than let a wrong answer sit quietly. Here is how each daily game is checked, across every league.

Built from real data

Every puzzle starts from actual league data: rosters and franchises, career and single-season records, statistical leaders, projections, milestones and award histories. We don't invent connections or numbers — we find the true ones and build the game around them.

Every fact carries a source

Nothing goes on a board unattributed. Each fact is stored with where it came from, and we hold two kinds of fact to two standards:

Re-verified over time

A fact that was true when we wrote it can quietly stop being true — a "most ever" gets passed, a leader changes, a projection settles into an actual. Record and superlative facts are re-checked over time, not just on the day they're written, so an old puzzle doesn't ship a claim the season has since overtaken.

The same standard everywhere

Every league on Stumped is held to this bar. A WNBA projection in Pace and a field-position figure in Fourth & Know come from the same kind of official, established data feeds, rebuilt so they reflect the latest games. The sport changes; the standard doesn't.

Found a mistake?

We check carefully, but no process is perfect — and a fact we can fix is worth hearing about. If a number or claim looks wrong, email hello@stumped.games with the game and the date and we'll look into it.
